4-Hit Day for Bakker Leads A’s Past Pioniers

Robin Bakker didn’t feel much like getting out on Sunday, tallying four hits and leading A’s to a 21-1 win over Pioniers. Bakker singled in the third, singled in the fourth, doubled in the fourth, and tripled in the sixth.
A’s got things started in the first inning. Joppe Veerman tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Pioniers evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Tristan grounded out, scoring one run.
A’s pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored two runs for A’s, an error scored one run for A’s, and Danique Massaar singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
A’s put up nine runs in the fourth inning. Beau Bakker, Mike Xue, Massaar, Mathijs Straathof, Bakker, and Bakker each had RBIs in the frame.
Bakker got the start for A’s. He went three innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out six.
Yannick led things off on the mound for Pioniers. He went three innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and striking out five. Jakob and Daaf entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
A’s racked up 12 hits on the day. Bakker, Veerman, and Massaar each managed multiple hits for A’s. Bakker went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead A’s in hits.
Duncan led Pioniers with two hits in two at bats. Pioniers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Duncan led the way with three.
